Program Overview

The major goal of the Smart Talk program is to provide activities and support services for children birth to three and their families that will assure the children’s future success in school. Smart Talk is geared toward expectant parents and parents with children birth to 3 years. Program topics include child growth & development; prenatal & postnatal care; family structure, function and management; positive and effective parenting skills; interpersonal family relationships; prevention of child abuse; how to access community resources; and stress & anger management. Certificate of participation are awarded to parents completing an eight-week parenting sessions. Activities are designed to enhance a child’s physical, social and intellectual development with emphasis on language stimulation. The support program encourages parents to interact with each other and share parenting skills and experiences.


Birth-to-three Services Continuum

Smart Talk is a program that provides support for the development of children from birth to 36 months of age by focusing on the child and family through a network of child and family service providers. Smart Talk provides free developmental screenings and individual age appropriate activities for infants and toddlers to help them prepare for school. These school and home-based services are determined by the needs and wants of each family.


Our program provides the following activities and services, all FREE of charge:

·      Vision and Hearing Screenings

·      Field Trips (for participating families)

·      Books and Toy Lending Library

·      Play Groups (Free Book for Participants)

·      Parent Chats (Refreshments and Door Prizes)

·      Personal Visiting Program

·      Daddy and Me — Evening Groups

·      Anger Management and Parenting Classes


All programs and activities are offered on Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
