Your Child's Homework
Homework assignments are given for the following purposes:
- To increase retention of information and to provide essential practice in needed skills obtained in the classrooms
- To train pupils in good work habits
- To afford opportunities for increasing self-direction
- To help teach proper budgeting of time
- To bring pupils into contact with outside learning resources
- To promote growth responsibility
Time spent on homework will be up to each individual student depending on what three homework assignments per week in each content area may require.
Homework guidelines provide that:
- In each content area (Science, Social Studies, Math, Language Arts, and Reading) students will be given a minimum of three (3) homework assignments per week.
- Students should be given feedback for all homework assigned in the form of corrected papers.
- Homework assignments will be a part of the total evaluation of the child.
Textbooks
The Board of Education provides free textbooks to your child at the beginning of each year.
You, the parent or guardian are financially responsible for books that are lost or destroyed by your child.
