FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Dear Parents and Students:

I would like to take this time to welcome you to another exciting school year at Lincoln Elementary School. With standards-based programs such as, Evans Newton Incorporated and America's Choice School Design, teaching will continue to be standards based as well as data driven and focused on the learning needs of each student. We have also added Study Island which is a web-based program that is standards based, researched based and accessible from any computer with internet access. Also, programs such as AIMSWEB and Study Island will allow us to collect data that can be analyzed in order to provide individualized instruction and develop interventions for those students that may need it. We are very proud of the successes that were accomplished by our students this past school year. As we all know in order for students to be successful it will take a team effort, which includes the student, school, parent and the community. As we all know the parent is the child's first teacher therefore we need your involvement and support to increase your child's chances for success in school and in life. For the 2008-2009 school year we will build on our previous successes in order to meet the state's academic goals. In order for our children to succeed it will indeed take the combined efforts of the school and the community. Let's work together to keep our children safe. Please do not drop your child off before 8:00 a.m. Breakfast is served daily at 8:00 a.m. Also, all students are dismissed at 2:55 p.m. daily please plan to pick up your child at that time. If your child is a bus rider please remind them to follow bus safety rules so that they do not lose their bus riding privileges. Notices will always be sent home prior to an early dismissal, school holiday or non-attendance day. Please refer to our school calendar and all notices sent home for additional school and district events. Please continue to give us your support as we work together to keep our children safe, motivated and on track to a quality education.

Sincerely,

Dr. Gregory Jackson, Principal
