Department Mission Statement
To ensure that all students have access to a rigorous and viable program that includes instructional technology and communication, which cultivates learning, growth, collaboration, and expertise in a rapidly changing global society. Department Overview West Harvey-Dixmoor School District 147 is committed to providing our students with a positive learning experience to prepare them for the 21st Century. Our curriculum emphasizes life and career skills; learning and innovation skills; information, media and technology skills, as well as cognitive and social skills that will enable them to deal with complex challenges and succeed in the 21st century. Our curriculum also incorporates state of the art technology tools and instruction to support the learning process and meet the unique learning styles of all students. Through technology investment we are developing new programs that support teaching and learning and connecting with students in ways that are more meaningful and familiar to them. As a district, West Harvey-Dixmoor School District #147 is committed to an educational program that recognizes the importance of technology in our society. Every one of our classrooms at District 147 is digitally equipped to meet the needs of the 21st century learner, offering SMART Boards, Chromebooks, iMac computers, and a wide-variety of Digital Learning Platforms centered around increasing student collaboration and engagement. Both Rosa Parks Middle School and King Elementary School are equipped with State of the Art STEM labs, including a Broadcast Studio at Rosa Parks. Department Responsibilities
