
Dear West Harvey-Dixmoor School District 147 Parents and Guardians,
The State of Illinois has provided guidance that provides flexibility on how to approach teaching and learning during emergency days. District 147 will offer E-learning days to ensure that instruction does not stop during school closures.
In the past, if a snow day or emergency day was called by the District, that instructional day had to be made up at the end of the year. By doing this, we risked missing concepts and skills. Additionally, extending the school year could cause scheduling conflicts for families, as well as our summer programs.
Our plan is designed in a manner that will allow students to engage in meaningful learning opportunities while at home. Teachers will be available, Monday through Friday, 9:30 am - 2:30 pm, to assist students with assignments. Students will be required to log in and submit evidence of their learning. If students are unable to participate during e-learning days, accommodations will be made to assist them.
The plan will be reviewed quarterly for enhancement and to address any difficulties that we may face. For additional information, please refer to the E-learning FAQ.
